KATHMANDU: Following the Cabinet’s decision to implement the report of the Gen Z Uprising Commission, the Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed security forces to remain on high alert.

According to police sources, the Police Headquarters has directed the Valley Police Office at Rani Pokhari to maintain heightened alertness, following the Home Ministry’s orders.

The Cabinet, in its first meeting, decided to enforce the commission’s recommendations. Political figures identified in the report will face action, while a separate committee will investigate matters concerning security personnel.

Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, after assuming office, had emphasized that the Cabinet would move forward with implementing the Karki-led commission’s report. He stated that all individuals recommended for action by the commission would face consequences. “The government moves forward based on the Gen Z mandate. Everyone recommended for action by the commission will be held accountable. We are here to work, and work will be done,” he said.

In anticipation of potential protests by Congress and UML supporters following the government’s decision, the Nepal Police have instructed all officers to remain in readiness. Additionally, officers on duty are required to report to the Police Headquarters in full field uniform by 7:00 a.m. on Saturday.
