KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), abbreviated CPN (UML), Chairman KP Sharma Oli has strongly criticized the government, describing it as a “bundle of prejudice” and alleging that it is selectively targeting him and leaders from older political parties through an asset investigation mechanism.

Speaking at a program in the capital on Wednesday, Oli said the state is attempting to frame opposition figures while sparing new individuals and the army. He declared that he would not recognize the commission formed to investigate assets and would not submit any statement or declaration of property.

“I will not give a statement. I will not fill and send my asset details. Let it do whatever it can. This state is not a state. It is a bundle of prejudice,” Oli said.

He further argued that existing constitutional bodies are sufficient for asset investigations and accused the government of forming an extra-constitutional body to target opposition leaders. Comparing it to past political actions, he said such mechanisms are aimed at framing opponents rather than ensuring accountability.

Oli also said his asset records had been destroyed in past incidents, adding that there was nothing left to submit. He urged the government to abandon what he called retaliatory politics and return to constitutional governance.
