KATHMANDU: Opposition parties, led by the main opposition Nepali Congress, have decided to disrupt Monday’s House of Representatives meeting by surrounding the rostrum.

During a joint meeting held at the Nepali Congress parliamentary party office—which included leaders from the CPN (UML), Nepali Communist Party, Shram Sanskriti Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party—the opposition condemned Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s Sunday parliamentary address, where he claimed Nepal has also encroached upon India’s borders.

Terming the Prime Minister’s remarks “anti-national,” opposition lawmakers announced that the Prime Minister must issue an official apology to the nation from the parliament floor.

They also demanded that his controversial comments must be completely expunged from the house records before regular legislative proceedings will be allowed to resume.
