KATHMANDU: A committee has been formed to investigate incidents of vandalism and alleged misconduct that took place during Sunday’s meeting of the House of Representatives.

Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal informed that the panel was constituted after some members of parliament reportedly engaged in undignified and objectionable behavior, resulting in physical damage to parliamentary property during the session.

According to the Speaker, a detailed assessment of the damage has already been prepared. The committee, coordinated by House of Representatives Secretary Prakash Adhikari, has been tasked with investigating the incident and submitting its report within seven days.

The committee includes the chief of the Internal Service and Planning Management Division and the chief of the Technology Management Division of the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

Speaker Aryal stated that necessary action could be taken against those involved based on the committee’s findings under sub-rule 4 of rule 33 of the House of Representatives Regulations 2026.

Earlier in the session, opposition lawmakers had protested against the process of passing the House regulations, surrounding the parliamentary well. During the commotion, chairs and microphones were damaged.
