KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel and Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav have decided not to participate in today’s House of Representatives election.
According to the President’s press advisor Kiran Pokharel, President Paudel did not take part in the voting process. Pokharel stated that the President chose not to vote because he serves as the common guardian of all citizens and political parties, as well as the protector and upholder of the Constitution.
Speaking to Nepal News, Pokharel said, “The Right Honorable President, as the guardian of the Constitution and the nation’s figurehead, has decided not to participate in the voting process.”
Similarly, Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav also did not take part in voting.
His press coordinator Dinesh Yadav said, “It is not that a person holding a dignified position such as the Vice President is prohibited from voting. However, he has decided not to participate in the voting process in order to maintain the neutrality of his office.”
