KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has called on the government to implement a clean and competitive appointment process in public and constitutional bodies.

Speaking at Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Lamichhane urged officials who secured their positions through political appointments to voluntarily step down.

He emphasized that the government seeks to establish a transparent appointment system based on policy, law, standards, and merit, and appealed to politically appointed public officials to leave their posts willingly to pave the way for reform.

“Yesterday, appointments were made under the cover of the constitution and law, based on party recommendations. I appeal to those officials to resign voluntarily and support compliance with the law. The government aims to implement a new, clean, and competitive appointment process grounded in policy, law, standards, and merit. I expect officials appointed yesterday to voluntarily step aside to facilitate this,” Lamichhane stated.
