KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman and Member of Parliament Rabi Lamichhane has departed for a five-day official visit to New Delhi, India.

Lamichhane left for the Indian capital today at the formal invitation of Nitin Nabin, the President of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The visit, spanning from June 1 to June 5, is aimed at initiating party-to-party engagements and strengthening relations between the political forces.

According to a press release issued by Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, In-charge of the BJP’s Foreign Affairs Department, during the stay in the Indian capital, Lamichhane and his delegation are slated to meet with President Nabin and other senior leaders to establish formal, party-to-party engagement.

The bilateral talks will focus primarily on exchanging views regarding organizational practices, democratic processes, and people-centric political outreach.

Notably, the official statement outlines engagements strictly within the BJP party leadership, with no mention of the delegation meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their visit.

This high-profile political outreach to New Delhi follows immediately on the heels of a major political storm brewing back in Kathmandu.
