KATHMANDU: Following the reduction in the prices of petroleum products since midnight on July 1, the Department of Transport Management has reduced the fare of interprovincial public and cargo vehicles by two percent, effective from July 2.
Issuing a public notice today, the department reduced the fares of public transport and cargo vehicles by two percent.
According to the department, when the fare rate was adjusted last time, the average price of diesel was Rs 235.83 per liter, whereas from July 1, it has been fixed at Rs 193.83, leading to the adjustment of the new fare according to the automatic system.
Earlier, as per the ministerial level decision on April 25, 2026, the fare of public and cargo vehicles was increased by five percent.
President of the Federation of Nepal National Transport Entrepreneurs, Punya Prasad Sitaula (Saroj), said that the department has reduced the fare of public transport and cargo vehicles by two percent.
