At least five persons died and 19 others sustained injuries in a tractor accident in Rapti Municipality-11 in Chitwan district on Sunday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police of Chitwan Surya Bahadur Thapa was quoted in the Rastriya Saachar Samiti as saying that  the tractor (Na 1 Ta 6382) carrying labourers from Thakaltar fell about 200 metres below the road killing five and injuring 19 others, at Chiundekhola, at around 7:30 pm on Sunday.

DSP Thapa added that the injured ones are receiving treatment in different hospitals in Bharatpur. Condition of some injured labourers is critical, police said.

Details of the accident are awaited.
