KATHMANDU: At the closing stages of 2081, Nepali movie fans are celebrating an excellent achievement – four movies have crossed the blockbuster mark! With mere days remaining in the year, movie releases like Pitarambar and Karma can also alter the lists.
Four movies this year have crossed the 10 crore box office mark. Leading the pack is Purnabahadur Ko Sarangi, which has set records on fire in a gross collection of a whopping 46 crore rupees from Nepali cinemas alone. This achievement is proof that Nepali movies are no longer held back by barriers and new success standards.
Second place is taken by 12 Gaun, with a gross of nearly 20 crore rupees. This film marked the rise of actor Sameer Bhatt as a leading star because of this blockbuster success.
Third place is taken by Chhakka Panja 5, which has grossed over 15 crore rupees at the local box office, and it is a leading success.
Boksi Ko Ghar, a production by Keiki Adhikari, also left its mark, crossing the 10 crore figure with 10 crore 2 lakh rupees gross.
Until now, these 4 films have collected over 10 crore, 3 of which were full-gross blockbusters. And then there is Purnabahadur Ko Sarangi, which has been an all-time blockbuster!
On position five stands Anjila, having grossed over 7.5 crore rupees at the domestic box office. The film remains active and stands to reach a lifetime collection of around 8.5 crore rupees. Anjila even surpassed the performance of Pujar Sarki, which grossed 7.4 crore rupees, to claim position number five.
