KATHMANDU: As the new fiscal year commenced on July 17, 2026, official data revealed that the government of Nepal collected approximately Rs 50 billion in revenue during the final three days of the preceding fiscal year.
According to the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), a total of Rs 50.10 billion was gathered between July 14 and July 16.
The daily breakdown shows a collection of Rs 16.50 billion on July 14, followed by a peak of Rs 21.17 billion on July 15 and concluding with Rs 12.43 billion on July 16.
Despite the massive end-of-year rush, this collection marks a noticeable decline compared to the same three-day period in the previous year, which brought in Rs 64 billion.
The FCGO reports that Nepal’s annual revenue growth rate slowed down significantly, limiting itself to just 5%.
This deceleration highlights a sharp contrast to the decade spanning 2012 to 2022, when the country maintained a robust average annual revenue growth rate of 17% before slowing down in recent consecutive years.
