KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has called on Dharan Mayor Harka Sampang to refrain from being negative towards the Maoists.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the joint national conference of the Kirat and Limbuwan National Liberation Front, Nepal in Dharan, Prachanda made this appeal.
“I have called Dharan Mayor Harka Sampang a beautiful flower that blossomed in democracy. But what happens to him sometimes? There is no need for him to be negative towards the Maoists,” he remarked.
Prachanda urged all oppressed communities, supporters of identity politics, Maoist-affiliated parties and groups, and emerging political leaders like Harka Sampang to unite with the Maoist Centre in the campaign for constitutional amendment and socialist transformation.
During the event, Prachanda criticized the current electoral system, stating that it favors the wealthy rather than the people.
He emphasized the need for constitutional amendments to adopt a presidential system and a people-oriented proportional electoral system.
