KATHMANDU: International watchdog organizations have leveled severe accusations against Nepal’s government, alleging that ruling authorities are wielding coercive impeachment threats and forced resignation pressure to undermine the independence of the nation’s top bench.

Pointing to controversial ordinance changes and bypassed seniority norms in judicial appointments, the groups claimed the state is actively orchestrating a campaign of political interference to muzzle judicial oversight.
