Crime cases registered in Kathmandu decrease compared to last year

KATHMANDU: Crime cases registered in Kathmandu have decreased compared to the previous year, according to data released by the Nepal Police.

The information was shared during an annual press conference organized to highlight major events, crime investigations, peace and security updates, and key achievements made by the Nepal Police over the year.

According to the police, 11,078 cases were registered in the fiscal year 2025/26, compared to 12,872 cases in FY 2024/25.

Additionally, 1,166 crime cases were registered in Kathmandu district through mid-March to mid-April. Police statistics also indicate that the highest number of crime incidents occur between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM, with 5,750 incidents reported during this timeframe.
