SIRAHA: Police opened fire and arrested six alleged drug dealers in Siraha on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred near Hospital Chowk in Lahan Municipality-3.
According to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), six individuals were taken into custody during the operation. The arrested individuals have been identified as 22-year-old Vidyanand Yadav from Bihar, India; 40-year-old Mohammad Nasir of Rupani Rural Municipality-1, Saptari; 28-year-old Shambhu Prasad Yadav and 24-year-old Baidhanath Prasad Yadav of Bode Barsain Rural Municipality-2; and 28-year-old Mohammad Jamahir Alam and 32-year-old Mohammad Imamudin of Dakneshwari Rural Municipality-2.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jiban Niraula of the Narcotics Control Bureau stated that the suspects were caught red-handed while dealing brown sugar. DSP Niraula added that the suspects attacked the police team during the attempt to apprehend them.
In response, police initially fired five rounds into the air as a warning. When the suspects continued to resist, officers fired at them, hitting Mohammad Nasir in his left leg and Vidyanand Yadav in his right leg. Both injured suspects are currently receiving treatment at Lahan Provincial Hospital.
Police seized 243 grams of brown sugar from the arrested individuals. The remaining four suspects are currently held in custody at the Area Police Office in Lahan.
