KATHMANDU: The East-West Highway has been completely blocked following the collapse of the Giribari Bridge at Choramara in Eastern Nawalparasi.
The incident has left thousands of passengers stranded on both sides of the bridge, with long queues of vehicles stretching for kilometers.
Authorities are making efforts to create a temporary diversion to ease the traffic, but the onset of nighttime is posing significant challenges.
Local police, along with road authorities, are coordinating to manage the situation, but it may take hours before movement can resume.
Passengers, including those on long-haul buses and cargo trucks, have been forced to wait without clear information on when the highway will reopen.
