CHITWAN: A man attempted suicide after killing two children with a sharp weapon in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-25, near Kisan Chowk.

The attacker, identified as 42-year-old Leela Raj Giri, used a sharp weapon to murder his nephew and his own daughter before attempting to take his own life.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Govinda Puri of the District Police Office, Giri attacked his seven-year-old daughter, Prabha Giri, and his five-year-old nephew, Sajan Giri, the son of his elder brother Daya Giri, with a sickle.

He then turned the weapon on himself in an apparent suicide attempt. All three were rushed to Chitwan Medical College immediately after the incident. The two children were pronounced dead, while Giri remains in critical condition.

SP Puri revealed that Giri is a former soldier and was reportedly suffering from mental health issues, which is believed to have triggered the incident.

The attack took place at around 9:45 AM today as the children were preparing for school.
