NAWALPARASI: Two people were killed and three others sustained serious injuries after being trapped under a fallen tree in Sunwal, Nawalparasi West.

The incident occurred this afternoon at Charpala in Sunwal Municipality Ward No. 7 when heavy rain and strong winds toppled the tree onto a bus stop where locals were taking shelter.

According to Santosh Paudel, Chief of the Area Police Office in Sunwal, 30-year-old Mira Bayambu and 40-year-old Durga Bahadur Pun of Sunwal-7 died on the spot.

The injured have been identified as 40-year-old Narmati Pariyar, 51-year-old Durgeshwara Khamcha, and 22-year-old Anil Thapa, all from the same locality.

They are currently undergoing treatment at Devdaha Medical College in Rupandehi. The police stated that the bus stop collapsed after the tree fell on it, trapping the people inside.
