KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, held a meeting with Dr. Akihiko Tanaka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), on Friday.
The meeting took place at JICA headquarters in Tokyo and focused on various aspects of Nepal-Japan bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Minister Dr. Rana expressed Nepal’s gratitude for the long-standing support extended by the Government of Japan through JICA in Nepal’s economic and social development sectors.
She appreciated JICA’s fundamental cooperation policy for Nepal, which has contributed to economic growth, poverty alleviation, disaster risk reduction, climate change response, and the promotion of good governance and democracy.
Minister Rana also praised recent Japanese assistance through JICA, especially in the construction of the Nagdhunga Tunnel, reconstruction and maintenance of the Sindhuli–Bardibas road, and other key infrastructure projects across Nepal.
The discussions also covered broader topics such as climate change and its impacts, disaster management, good governance, and welfare programs for senior citizens.
