KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged that tourists visiting Nepal be welcomed warmly without facing any legal or administrative hassles.
Speaking at the National Tourism Dialogue organized by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation at Singha Durbar on Monday, Prime Minister Oli called for sweeping reforms to eliminate existing obstacles and boldly accelerate the pace of good governance and development.
He emphasized the need to end practices such as causing unnecessary trouble to travelers at immigration, mishandling luggage, or creating unjustified hurdles for tourists at border entry points.
He made it clear that the government is ready to amend public procurement laws and other regulations if they are found to be obstructing business or work.
“We are making efforts to boost tourism along with infrastructure development. Connectivity has expanded. Nepal is no longer remote. Apples from Jumla now reach Kathmandu smoothly and find a market,” said Prime Minister Oli.
“We have opened 14 border points with China. A bridge is being constructed at the Kimathanka border point. It takes time to do everything at once in areas that previously had nothing. There is no need for self-praise or despair. Let us promote tourism as a foundation for prosperity without any lapses in facilitation from the concerned agencies,” he stated.
