KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has characterized the decade of coalition politics from 2015 to 2025 as a “perverted era,” asserting that while his faction witnessed this political distortion, they were never active partners in it.
Speaking at the party’s ‘Green Table’ discussion, Thapa reiterated his steadfast commitment to good governance but criticized the government’s newly formed Asset Investigation Commission for bypassing proper legal procedures.
While declaring that he and his colleagues will willingly submit their asset details because no one is above the law, he warned that rushing into investigations without a powerful, parliament-backed framework risks undermining public trust and failing to deliver genuine results.
Thapa also welcomed the investigation into the recent passport scandal, emphasizing that adherence to the rule of law and due process must remain paramount in all anti-corruption efforts.
