KATHMANDU: Senior journalist and literary figure Bijay Chalise passed away on Friday morning at the age of 74.

He was the former Editor-in-Chief and Chairperson of the government’s official daily newspaper, Gorkhapatra, and the founding chairperson of Press Chautari Nepal.

Chalise had been ill for some time, and he died during treatment. According to his family, his funeral will be held on Friday at Gokarneshwor Ghat.

The late Chalise was also a scholar in mass communication and journalism, having published several books related to media, journalism, and literature.
