KATHMANDU: Efforts to plant grass have intensified in Tundikhel, a historical and public area in the capital, with the objective of promoting greenery. Under the ‘Tundikhel Greenery Program’, this ongoing campaign aims to make Tundikhel more lush, attractive, and environment-friendly.

Implemented in coordination with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and relevant authorities, the program focuses on planting dubo grass, conserving the greenery, and enhancing the aesthetic beauty of this open space.

Tundikhel is considered an important open space from historical, cultural, and social perspectives. It serves as a venue for national day celebrations, various cultural and social events, sports activities, as well as daily exercise, strolls, and recreation for the general public.

In recent years, various stakeholder agencies and citizens have expressed growing interest in the conservation, beautification, and preservation of Tundikhel’s original form.
