POKHARA: A passenger bus traveling from Lamjung to Pokhara met with an accident, injuring 18 people.
Among the injured, the condition of three is reported to be critical.
The bus, bearing registration number Ga 1 Kha 4101, crashed on Friday afternoon at Parche in Rupa Rural Municipality-1 of Kaski district.
According to the Bhorletar Area Police Office, the accident occurred when the brakes of the bus failed, causing it to lose control and overturn on the road.
Following the accident, a police team from the Bhorletar-based Area Police Office in Lamjung conducted a rescue operation and transported the injured passengers to the Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara for treatment, said Police Inspector Yam Aryal.
The driver of the crashed bus, 34-year-old Santosh Lama of Rambazaar, Madhyanepal-7 in Lamjung, has been taken into custody.
Police also confirmed that he sustained injuries in the accident.
The injured passengers include Radhika Ghimire (62), Menuka Devi Ghimire (82), Soma Thapa (59), Laxmi Kumari Gurung (54), Saraswati KC (45), Jamuna Devi Ghimire (83), and Sarita Ghimire (42), all from Rambazaar, Madhyanepal-7.
Others injured in the incident are Sabitra Ghimire (56), Rita Ghimire (42), Parbati Ghimire (41), Sija Thapa (48), Chandra Bahadur KC (75), Netra Bahadur KC (71), Lila KC (30), Shanti KC (37), Harikrishna Ghimire (63), Kamala Devi Ghimire (48), and Maiya Kunwar (55).
