Customs Bill passed unanimously by National Assembly

KATHMANDU: The National Assembly has unanimously endorsed the Customs Bill, 2080. In today’s session, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel presented the proposal for consideration of the bill, which was received from the House of Representatives with a message.

Responding to concerns raised during the discussion, Minister Paudel said the bill aims to address existing challenges in customs administration and revenue mobilization. “The bill will help curb revenue leakage, enhance transparency and trust in the customs system, and facilitate international trade,” he stated.

Lawmakers Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami, Bhagawati Neupane, Dr. Beduram Bhusal, Tulsakumari Dahal, Maya Prasad Sharma, and Gopal Bhattarai took part in the deliberation.

Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal informed members that any proposed amendments to the bill should be submitted through the bill section of the assembly.

Earlier in the meeting, Tulsakumari Dahal, Chair of the Legislation Management Committee, presented the committee’s report on the Constitutional Council (Duties, Functions, Powers and Procedures) First Amendment Bill, 2079.

Likewise, Assembly Secretary Dr. Surendra Aryal tabled a message from the House of Representatives concerning the Water Resources Bill, 2081.
