KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal held a meeting on Thursday to discuss the ongoing political crisis and the prolonged stalemate in the federal parliament.
The talks were held at the Maoist parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar. According to leaders present, the two sides deliberated on finding a “middle-ground solution” to resume parliamentary business, which has been obstructed for several weeks.
Following the meeting, Nepal stressed the need for a practical and balanced approach to ensure the smooth functioning of the House. He called for consensus among major political parties to resolve the disruption.
Dahal confirmed that resolving the deadlock was the core agenda. He added that broader consultations, including with the opposition and other stakeholders, would be initiated to forge an agreement.
Party sources said the CPN (Unified Socialist) had agreed in principle to a two-point proposal drafted by the Maoist Centre, suggesting progress toward a resolution.
Senior leaders present at the meeting included Maoist Deputy General Secretaries Barshaman Pun and Shakti Basnet, Maoist Centre Chief Whip Hit Raj Pandey, and Unified Socialist Senior Vice-Chair Rajendra Pandey.
