KATHMANDU: A meeting of Nepal’s House of Representatives of Nepal is scheduled to take place today at 11:00 a.m.
The agenda includes discussions on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Lawmakers are expected to debate the proposed budget, while Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle is scheduled to respond to questions and concerns raised by members of Parliament.
Although budget discussions have been listed on the parliamentary agenda for an extended period, the House has been unable to formally enter the budget debate due to continued disruptions.
Opposition parties have been obstructing parliamentary proceedings, insisting that Prime Minister Balen Shah apologize for remarks in which he allegedly stated that Nepal had encroached on Indian territory. The opposition has maintained that the House should not be allowed to function until an apology is issued.
As a result, key legislative business, including budget deliberations, has remained stalled in the House.
