Rain expected in hilly regions, heatwave alert for Terai

KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has forecast a mixed weather pattern for today. Various parts of Nepal are expected to experience partial cloud cover and chances of rainfall today.

During the daytime, the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, and Gandaki Province are expected to remain generally cloudy. Other mountainous areas across the country are also likely to see similar conditions.

Meanwhile, the hilly regions of Madhesh Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province, and Sudurpashchim Province are expected to experience partial cloud cover, while most Terai areas will remain mainly clear.

The weather office has forecast light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, at a few locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Isolated rainfall and light snowfall are also possible in other mountainous and hilly regions.

In addition, some areas of the Terai in Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces may experience hot daytime conditions.

Tonight, the mountainous regions, especially in Koshi Province and other Himalayan areas, are expected to remain generally cloudy, while hilly regions will see partial cloud cover. Most Terai districts are likely to remain mainly clear.

The forecast also indicates a chance of light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi Province, the hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and isolated Himalayan locations in Karnali Province.
