KATHMANDU: Former UML Vice Chairperson Bhim Rawal, who was expelled from the party a few months ago by UML Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, launched a scathing attack against Oli on Tuesday through a post on social media platform X.
In his lengthy note, Rawal responded to recent remarks made by Oli during a student program, where Oli allegedly mocked Rawal’s political stances and questioned his loyalty to the party. Oli had used terms like “confused,” “traitor,” and “search for a position” to belittle Rawal’s dissent, accusing him of weakening the party from within.
Rawal countered that such statements were baseless, insulting, and a deliberate attempt to undermine serious issues through character assassination. He accused Oli of promoting authoritarian tendencies and personal interests over national, constitutional, and party values.
He stated, “The accusations made against me by KP Oli are laughable, misleading, power-hungry, and full of betrayal.”
He claimed Oli’s personal behavior contradicts the principles of the UML, and his past actions have repeatedly defied truth, values, and ethics. Rawal also accused Oli of consistently engaging in undemocratic and self-centered conduct.
Rawal emphasized that his political life and public expressions have always aligned with national interest, constitutional principles, and ideological integrity. He reiterated that he had previously refuted Oli’s allegations with facts, but Oli continued to mislead the public.
Calling Oli’s statements, a diversion from serious issues, Rawal challenged the UML chair to publicly engage in a fact-based debate. He stated, “There are many incidents, facts, and truths that show Oli’s deviation from democratic values.”
