KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chief Whip Gyandendra Shahi has called for an investigation into 14 current and former Home Ministers in connection with the controversial visit visa scandal.
Speaking at Thursday’s House of Representatives meeting, Shahi named former Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula and incumbent Ramesh Lekhak among the 14 who, he said, should be brought under the purview of a probe.
Shahi emphasized that the visit visa issue is not the concern of any single political party but a matter of national importance, and urged all parties to come together to address it. He stated that their protest would continue until a parliamentary investigation committee is formed.
He also advised the government not to compel the Speaker to proceed with House business amid opposition protests.
Despite objections, the session moved forward, prompting Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmakers to surround the well of the House in protest, while RPP lawmakers boycotted the meeting altogether.
