KATHMANDU: The opposition Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has urged Ramhari Khatiwada, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on State Affairs and Good Governance, to resign over controversial changes made to the Civil Service Bill related to the “cooling-off period” provision.

RSP spokesperson and House of Representatives member Manish Jha acknowledged irregularities in the bill’s provision and called on Khatiwada to step down.

“Mr. Chairperson of the State Affairs Committee, how did the content of the Civil Service Bill change from what was tabled at the federal parliament’s rostrum?” Jha questioned via X (formerly Twitter).

“Either fix it or accept your incompetence and resign from the committee,” he added.

Spokesperson Jha also took a jab at lawmakers from various parties who approved the bill without thoroughly reading it.

“To those who said ‘yes’ or ‘no’ without even reading—shame on you,” he wrote sarcastically.
