KATHMANDU: Nepal has secured the 7th position in the global list of top solo adventure travel destinations for 2025, published by UK-based adventure travel company ‘Much Better Adventures.’

The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has been actively showcasing the country’s adventurous, natural, and cultural richness to the global community. Its promotion of responsible tourism, improved accessibility, use of local guides, and emphasis on community-based tourism has made Nepal a safer, more reliable, and attractive destination for solo travelers.

Nepal was highly rated in the list for its unique landscapes, rich culture, budget-friendly services, and wide range of adventure activities. Highlighted experiences include the Everest Base Camp trek, Annapurna Circuit, and jungle safaris in Chitwan National Park—popular among solo travelers seeking peace and thrill.

To enhance solo travel experiences, Nepal Tourism Board has focused on delivering accurate information, ensuring safety through local guides, and balancing culture, nature, and adventure in its tourism promotion strategy. Under its responsible tourism policy, it also prioritizes local participation and conservation in Himalayan regions, national parks, and heritage sites.

Nepal was also recognized as a budget-friendly destination due to its low average travel costs. The report notes, “Nepal offers affordable accommodation, budget-friendly packages, and a rich blend of cultural and natural experiences.”

Shyam Bruce, co-founder of ‘Much Better Adventures,’ said the rankings were based on expert opinions and customer travel experiences. The selection considered factors such as safety, sustainability, accessibility, and popularity.

“Nepal offers solo travelers stunning nature, deep spirituality, and warm hospitality—whether it’s the bustling alleys of Kathmandu or the serene trails of the Himalayas,” Bruce noted.

Kristy Holmes, Content Manager at ‘Much Better Adventures,’ recently traveled solo in Nepal and shared her experience, saying, “While trekking in the Annapurna Conservation Area and exploring Chitwan, I truly felt at home.”

In the top 10 list, Italy ranks first, followed by Japan, Norway, Spain, Albania, Portugal, Nepal, Montenegro, Jordan, and Greece.

Nepal Tourism Board CEO Deepak Raj Joshi expressed that international recognitions like this present an opportunity for Nepal to further enhance destination marketing and tourism development through strategic initiatives.
