KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has stated that monsoon winds are currently affecting the country. In addition, the monsoon low pressure line is located near the Sardar location.

According to the division, it is currently partly to generally cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rain is occurring at a few places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces and at one or two places in Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces.

It will be generally cloudy throughout the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with lightning at some places in the hilly areas including Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and at a few places in the remaining provinces.

There is also a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with snowfall at a few places in the high hills and mountainous areas.

Similarly, it will remain generally cloudy across the country tonight. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with lightning at some places in the hilly regions including Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and a few places in the remaining regions. There is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces, the division has stated.

The Division has requested that necessary precautions be taken against the risk of soil erosion, floods, landslides and mudflows as there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in some parts of the country due to monsoon winds.
