KATHMANDU: On Tuesday, members of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) staged protests and ultimately boycotted the House of Representatives session over the government’s failure to initiate a parliamentary or high-level judicial investigation into the ongoing visit visa scandal.

As soon as Speaker Devaraj Ghimire announced the start of the meeting, MPs from both parties rose in protest. The Speaker then allowed RSP MP Shiva Nepali to speak.

Nepali criticized the government for not forming the demanded investigation committee and vowed to continue the protest until their demand was met.

He further emphasized that Minister Rajkumar Gupta’s resignation over the bribery scandal was insufficient, calling for a full inquiry. Nepali also criticized Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak for not resigning despite allegations.

Following Nepali, RPP’s Chief Whip Gyan Bahadur Shahi was given time to speak. Shahi echoed similar demands, insisting their protest would persist until an investigation committee was formed regarding the visit visa case.

After their speeches, MPs from both RSP and RPP walked out of the parliamentary hall, boycotting the session entirely.
