KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, chairman of the main opposition party CPN (Maoist Centre), has stated that he is prepared to lead street protests if necessary to establish the demands and issues of the people.

He made these remarks on Friday while receiving a memorandum with suggestions on the bill to amend and integrate election laws, submitted by the Nepal Voters’ Rights Forum.

Prachanda described the forum’s initiative as positive and emphasized, “Change cannot be achieved merely by submitting such demands and suggestions to the leaders. If needed to establish the people’s demands and issues, we are ready to take to the streets.”

Speaking at Paris Danda, he also highlighted the Maoist Centre’s clear stance on the current election system and constitutional amendment, noting that the party has been continuously raising its voice for necessary changes in the electoral system.

The Nepal Voters’ Rights Forum presented various demands to Prachanda aimed at improving the electoral system, ensuring inclusive representation, and protecting voters’ rights.
