SINDHUPALCHOWK: A landslide triggered by continuous rainfall has blocked the Araniko Highway at the Jure section of Sindhupalchowk district, disrupting traffic in both directions.
According to DSP Madhav Raj Kharel of the District Police Office, the landslide occurred late last night. “Efforts are underway to clear the debris,” he said, adding that excavators and loaders have been deployed since early morning to restore the road.
The disruption has left hundreds of vehicles stranded along the highway.
The situation worsened after electricity poles collapsed during the landslide, further obstructing the roadway and hampering rescue and clearance efforts.
Meanwhile, flooding caused by ongoing heavy rains has also affected traffic in other areas of the district, compounding the transportation crisis.
