KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML Central Committee is set to begin its meeting today (Monday) at 11 AM at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur.
According to UML Publicity Department Chief Rajendra Gautam, the meeting will focus on key items including a proposal to amend the party’s statute, organizational reporting, and preparations for the upcoming statute convention.
The proposed statute amendment, already endorsed by the UML Secretariat and Politburo, will be tabled for official discussion.
Major changes include removing the 70-year age limit and lifting the two-term cap for leadership positions.
The new amendment proposes a restructured party hierarchy featuring three levels: the Standing Committee, Politburo, and Central Committee. The redefined Central Committee is expected to include 357 members.
Gautam confirmed that the meeting will run over two days—Monday and Tuesday—to allow ample time for deliberations on the proposed changes and future party strategies.
