NEW DELHI: As the southwest monsoon continues to advance across India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall in several regions over the coming days.
Northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are expected to receive significant rainfall.
Thunderstorms and rain are also likely in parts of southern India, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
Rainfall is also forecast for West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and parts of northwestern India, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Despite increasing monsoon activity, heatwave conditions are expected to persist in Delhi and several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.
The IMD has warned that temperatures in northwest and central India could rise by 4–6 degrees Celsius through June 11.
