KATHMANDU: The Flood Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a flood advisory for today (Wednesday, July 23), urging the public to remain cautious.
According to the division, flood measurements taken this morning indicate that while major rivers such as the Koshi, Narayani, Karnali, Mahakali, Kamala, Bagmati, Eastern Rapti, Western Rapti, Babai, and Kankai remain below warning levels, their water flow is expected to increase.
Rivers flowing through or near the districts of Ilam, Jhapa, Panchthar, Dhankuta, Ramechhap, Bhojpur, Khotang, Okhaldhunga, Nuwakot, Dhading, Rasuwa, Kavrepalanchok, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Sindhupalchok, Syangja, Gorkha, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Kaski, Parbat, Myagdi, Baglung, Lamjung, and Gulmi are also likely to experience a rise in water levels, with a moderate probability of sudden flooding.
The Flood Forecasting Division has issued a yellow alert for all these 31 districts and advised residents and travelers in river and stream areas to remain vigilant and exercise caution.
