KATHMANDU: The Flood Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a yellow alert today, advising caution regarding possible floods.
According to the division, this morning’s flood measurements show that the flow levels of the Koshi, Narayani, Karnali, Mahakali, Kamala, Bagmati, Eastern Rapti, Western Rapti, Babai, and Kankai rivers remain below alert levels but are expected to rise.
In terms of districts, small rivers flowing through Ramechhap, Solukhumbu, Sankhuwasabha, Rasuwa, Dhading, Nuwakot, Kavrepalanchok, Kaski, Lamjung, Parbat, Rukum East, Rukum West, Salyan, Surkhet, Jajarkot, Jumla, Dolpa, Mugu, Bajhang, Baitadi, Darchula, and surrounding areas are likely to experience significant increases in flow, with a medium risk of sudden flooding.
Similarly, small rivers flowing through Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Doti, Achham, Kalikot, Dailekh, and neighboring districts are expected to see a significant rise in flow, with a high probability of medium-level sudden flooding risk.
The Flood Forecasting Division has issued a yellow alert for all 27 districts and urged residents to stay vigilant and monitor changes in river flows closely.
