KATHMANDU: As of this morning’s measurement, the Flood Forecasting Division has reported that major rivers across Nepal—including the Koshi, Narayani, Karnali, Mahakali, Kamala, Bagmati, Eastern Rapti, Western Rapti, Babai, and Kankai—are currently flowing below the warning level, posing no immediate flood threat.

However, the forecast warns of a significant rise in water levels in several smaller rivers flowing through the hilly districts. There is a moderate to high possibility of sudden flash floods in rivers passing through Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, and surrounding areas due to recent rainfall patterns.

Similarly, a moderate risk of sudden flooding has been predicted in small rivers of Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap, Rasuwa, Dhading, Nuwakot, Makwanpur, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kavrepalanchok, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Surkhet, Achham, Lamjung, Western Rukum, Jumla, Darchula, Baitadi, and Dadeldhura districts.

Authorities have advised residents and travelers in these regions to remain cautious and prepared for possible flash flooding, especially in areas with steep terrain and poorly drained catchments.
