KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Centre) began its Standing Committee meeting on Friday at Paris Danda.
According to Vice-Chair and party spokesperson Agni Sapkota, the meeting will discuss several key agendas including party organization, division of responsibilities, and strengthening internal unity.
At the outset, party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is expected to brief the committee on the current political situation. The meeting will also decide on continuing the stalled Mid-Hill Highway campaign from Pokhara and set the date for the next Central Committee meeting.
The meeting will further deliberate on revitalizing and expanding the Socialist Front, the leftist alliance that includes the Maoist Centre.
Also on the agenda is the ongoing intra-party conflict led by Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma.
The rift between Chairman Prachanda and Sharma has already become public, and the meeting is expected to discuss ways to address the dispute and reinforce party unity.
