GULMI: Continuous rainfall has disrupted transportation in Gulmi, with the Ridi–Wamitaksar road completely blocked since this morning.

According to District Police Office spokesperson Ganga Bahadur Saru, flooding in the Dahare stream at Satyawati Rural Municipality-6 caused the closure.

The flood, carrying mud and debris, has halted all vehicle movement between Ridi and Burtibang in Baglung.

A police team has been deployed from Johang Khaireni to clear the route, but ongoing rainfall has made the task difficult. The same stream had swept away a car three days ago.

Similarly, a dry landslide has blocked the Ridi–Khanjyang road.

The landslide occurred at Sankhar in Rurukshetra Rural Municipality-1, fully obstructing traffic.

The monsoon rains have also raised water levels in the Kaligandaki and Badigad rivers.

The District Administration Office has urged residents in riverbank areas to remain alert and move to safer locations.

The District Disaster Management Committee reports that over 200 locations in Gulmi are at high risk of floods and landslides.
