RAUTAHAT: A woman’s body was discovered inside a suitcase abandoned near Mudwalwa Gate in Ward No. 9 of Gaur Municipality on Saturday night.
The suitcase, tied with rope, was spotted lying by the roadside. Police, led by DSP Rajan Karki of the Rautahat District Police Office, opened it on Sunday morning and found the body of a woman, estimated to be around 30 years old.
DSP Karki confirmed that the woman’s body had been stuffed into the suitcase. Her identity remains unknown. The body has been sent to the Provincial Hospital in Gaur for post-mortem examination.
Police have started examining CCTV footage from a nearby school to trace how the suitcase ended up at the site. An investigation is underway.
This case is the third body discovered in Rautahat within a week. Earlier, Upendra Bhagat of Saptari was found dead inside Nepal Lodge, while Sahabuddin Miya was fatally stabbed in Gaur-5.
The latest incident has added to growing public concern over a surge of violent cases in the district.Police said further investigation is ongoing.
