KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has decided to hold its general convention in Kathmandu from December 12 to 14, following a Central Working Committee meeting concluded on Saturday, Chairman Rajendra Lingden said.
The meeting also formed a General Convention Main Organizing Committee under Lingden’s leadership and directed the party to complete district conventions by mid-September and provincial conventions across all seven provinces from October 1 to 10.
Party leaders were urged not to be discouraged by recent election results and internal developments. The leadership also raised concerns over governance, accusing the government of weakening accountability, transparency, and good governance, which it said were key demands of the Gen Z movement.
Lingden also objected to a recent parliamentary remark by the Prime Minister regarding Nepal’s border, calling for immediate correction of statements on sensitive national issues.
On internal party matters, Lingden said the meeting had no confirmed information about possible splits, warning against any such move. The party also demanded withdrawal of taxes on essential sectors such as education, health, and electricity, along with stronger price control and market monitoring.
