KATHMANDU: Legendary comedian Hari Bansha Acharya is set to revive his popular character Haribahadur, a satirical figure that won the hearts of audiences through stage and television performances by poking fun at social ills and absurdities.

For many Nepalis, Haribahadur remains a cherished part of childhood memories. After a long absence from theater and small screens, the character will now be featured on the silver screen.

Acharya, who was last seen in a serious role in the film ‘Bhutan’ released in April, will bring laughter and entertainment in his upcoming film Haribahadur ko Jutta (Haribahadur’s Shoes).

Releasing the teaser of the movie on Wednesday, Acharya said the project is a light-hearted take on contemporary issues.

“After playing a serious role in ‘Bhutan,’ some wondered if I would only do such roles. But I want to work in all kinds of characters. In ‘Haribahadur ko Jutta,’ you’ll see me in a humorous role again,” Acharya remarked.

The concept of the film took shape after Acharya, who has also written the script and dialogues, shared the idea with singer Saroj Oli.

Oli later took the initiative in producing the film. “I am confident the audience will connect with this character on screen,” Acharya added.

The film, directed by Dipendra Kumar Khanal, is slated for release on September 28 targeting the Dashain festival.

Alongside Acharya, the cast includes Swastima Khadka, Prakash Saput, Harihar Sharma, Divya Dev, Kiran KC, Rajaram Paudel, Sita Nyaupane, and Kamal Mani Nepal.

Produced by singers Saroj Oli and Mohitbansh Acharya, the film features cinematography by Krishna Bahadur Thapa, editing by Nakul Khadka, and music by Basanta Sapkota, Deepak Sharma, and Prakash Saput.
