BIHAR: Bihar Police Headquarters on Thursday reportedly issued a statewide high alert after, as claimed by Indian intelligence, Pakistan-based terrorists entered the state.

As reported by India Today, officials indicated that three suspected operatives of the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed allegedly crossed into Bihar from the Nepal border.

The suspected individuals have been identified as Hasnain Ali from Rawalpindi, Adil Hussain from Umerkot, and Mohammad Usman from Bahawalpur, according to Bihar Police sources.

Intelligence reports, as claimed by authorities, suggest that the suspects reached Kathmandu in the second week of August before entering Bihar last week.

Passport-related details of the suspects have reportedly been shared with police in border districts. Security agencies have been instructed to intensify surveillance and gather intelligence, while district intelligence units have been directed to act on any suspicious activity.

Bihar had previously strengthened security along the Indo-Nepal border and in Seemanchal districts in May, following Operation Sindoor and ahead of upcoming Assembly elections.

Patrolling has been intensified in border areas including Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Araria, and East and West Champaran districts.

The state shares roughly 729 kilometres of open border with Nepal, with seven districts lying directly along this frontier, posing challenges for continuous surveillance and security enforcement.

India shares land borders with seven countries—China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Afghanistan—and maritime boundaries with Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Indonesia.
