KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has allowed the detention of former National Planning Commission member Arnico Panday for four days to facilitate investigation, according to Cyber Bureau spokesperson Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak Raj Awasthi.
Pandey is accused of sexually harassing a woman via email and WhatsApp.
Following the woman’s complaint, police summoned Panday to his office on Wednesday, where he was taken into custody for questioning.
“He allegedly sent messages through email and WhatsApp containing sexually inappropriate content that damaged the victim’s character,” SP Awasthi said.
Panday, a former central committee member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, had been appointed as a member of the National Planning Commission when his party was in government.
Police began recording his statement on Wednesday evening, and the interrogation is ongoing.
