KATHMANDU: Nepal ‘A’ cricket team, which lost the first match, will play its second contest against Assam Cricket Association today in Guwahati, India.

Led by captain Anil Kumar Shah, Nepal ‘A’ will face Assam in the second T20 match starting at 11 AM Nepali time.

In Thursday’s opening match of the five-game series, Nepal ‘A’ was defeated by 15 runs under the Duckworth–Lewis (D/L) method.

While chasing Assam’s target of 191 runs, Nepal ‘A’ had scored 64 runs for the loss of three wickets in eight overs when rain stopped play.

With no further play possible, Assam was declared the winner, leading the series 1–0. The Nepal ‘A’ squad announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) includes all-rounder Adil Alam, batsman Sandeep Jora, and several young as well as experienced players. Rising talent Yuvraj Khatri, who shone in the U-19 team, and comeback-seeking Pawan Sarraf are also part of the team.

Opener Anil Kumar Shah, who missed out on Nepal’s national squad for the Australia tour, has been given the captaincy of Nepal ‘A’.

The 26-year-old has already represented Nepal in 14 T20 Internationals and 17 One-Day Internationals.
