KATHMANDU: Nepali national team striker Bharat Khawas is set to retire from international football after the friendly matches against Bangladesh.

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) announced the decision on Sunday.

ANFA stated, “Since he is preparing to bid farewell to his international career after the matches against Bangladesh, there is a high chance that he will feature for the national team.”

Nepal will play two friendly matches against Bangladesh on September 6 and 9.

The final 23-member squad for the fixtures has already been announced, with 33-year-old Bharat included in the list.

Khawas currently plays domestic football for Tribhuvan Army Club.

A product of ANFA Academy, he made his international debut in 2008.

Since then, he has played over 60 international matches and scored 10 goals.
